Rocky Mount DB Glad To Finally Land Offer

Rocky Mount (NC) defensive back Shyheim Battle was recently pleased to hear that he received an offer from North Carolina, a program he once pictured himself being a part of.

"Coach Jason Tudryn offered me over the phone during weightlifting class," the class of 2019 prospect told THI. "I expected this offer a while before it came. I showed my face multiple times on campus, but it's still a blessing to receive an offer from a family team of ours.

"It means a lot to me, I'm not overlooking anyone, not letting the bigger schools distract me. I'm just taking in everything and seeing where I want to start my next career."

Battle (6-2, 165 pounds) was on campus last month for North Carolina's Junior Day, an experience he used to build close relationships with the coaches.

"I talked with coach DeAndre Smith and Coach Jason Tudryn most of my time on campus," he said. “The game was good, had great energy and was great basketball going on."

Even though it was a brief visit to Chapel Hill, Battle got a lot out of it.

"I got to see the new practice facility that was being built. "he said. "They kept everything energetic and fun, the photo shoot was pretty cool also."

Aside from being in Chapel Hill, the standout cornerback has taken recent visits to NC. State, Wake Forest and Virginia for their junior day events.

As he enters the end of his junior year, Battle has picked up offers from Clemson, Tennessee, NC. State, Wake Forest, Virginia and, of course, Carolina among others.
