Shaw Has Several In Mind

Las Vegas (Nev.) Legacy defensive end Derriyon Shaw still has UNC as part of a group of schools at the top of his list.
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound speed end, originally from Georgia, has long considered UNC one of his top options. The last time he spoke with THI he said he was planning a late July unofficial visit to Arizona State and official visits to Boise State and UNC.

Turns out he was unable to visit Arizona State. While that was a change, not everything's in flux.
"The officials to UNC and Boise State are still in progress," Shaw told TarHeelIllustrated.com in a recent interview. "I know that the Boise official will be in October for one of their games. I talked to Coach (Tray) Scott just yesterday and we're talking about a visit but we haven't found a date yet."
UNC has commitments from two defensive ends in Tomon Fox and Nolan DeFranco. Shaw said that Scott has not addressed the scholarship situation and how many players the Heels plan on taking at each position from here on out, but he does believe UNC's interest is still there.
"We haven't really talked about who they're taking but I know I'm a strong candidate," Shaw said. "They're recruiting me very hard and for North Carolina to come all the way out to Nevada I think that means they like me a lot."
Charlton Warren visited Shaw's school in the spring.
Shaw said not to read too much into his inability to visit ASU recently.
"They're still in my top five," he said of the Sun Devils.
But when asked for his top five Shaw just identified four schools.
"I'm really liking Boise, North Carolina, ASU and (Nevada) Reno," he concluded. "I'm actually talking with Arizona State to see about whether I could take an official there, too."
