Dawson Ellington, a class of 2020 athlete from Marietta, GA, picked up a scholarship offer to play college football at North Carolina during his visit to Chapel Hill last week.

"Head coach Larry Fedora offered me," the 5-11, 172 pounder told THI. "I think the program is great, they really focus on life after football and how to develop you as a man."

While on campus, he got a small taste of what it's like to be around the coaches, while getting a general feel for things close to the program.

"The visit was great, they were really welcoming and we talked about non-related football activities," he said. "The way that they focused on making the players better man really stood out."

Outside of the Tar Heels, Ellington has offers from Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Louisville, Tennessee, Michigan and UCLA among others.

Tar Heel Illustrated reached out to Ellington, to discuss the early stages of his recruitment and talk more about his UNC visit.

Ellington: The head coach and the defensive backs coach and we talked about life.

THI: What did you think of the facilities, the new practice facility, they're moving into and stadium changes?

Ellington: The facilities were nice and the upgrade to the stadium was very cool.

THI: What position is UNC recruiting you to play?

Ellington, I'm listed as an athlete but they like me at defensive back.

THI: As a defensive back, what do you think are your strengths?

Ellington: My strengths are my ball skills, speed to the all, press coverage, tackling and being a great team player.
