SHELBY, NC – THI was on hand at Shelby High School on Friday at for new North Carolina football commit Malaki Hamrick’s announcement he will play football for Mack Brown and the Tar Heels.

In the videos below, watch the 4-star linebacker reveal his decision, and below that watch our interview with him afterward.

At 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, Hamrick chose the Tar Heels over offers from the likes of Notre Dame, Ohio State, Auburn, and Penn State among many others. He is the No. 135 overall prospect in the class of 2022, including No. 5 in the state of North Carolina, and Hamrick is the No. 14 player nationally at his position.

Hamrick is the fourth player to commit to UNC for the class of 2022 joining 4-star defensive back Tayon Holloway, 3-star wide receiver Tychaun Chapman, and 3-star offensive lineman Treyvon Green. The first three commitments are from Virginia, making Hamrick the first in-state player to commit in this class.
