North Carolina extended an offer to 2019 point guard Jeremiah Francis on Wednesday night, Francis confirmed to THI.
Francis, who is 6-2 and 196 pounds, attends Pickerington Central High School in Pickerington, OH. The No. 61 overall prospect in the class, he has also been offered by Indiana, Ohio State, West Virginia, Butler and Purdue, among others.
“Yes, I did,” Francis said, confirming the offer from the Tar Heels. “Coach Williams called around 10 and we talked about the summer. And then he said those magic words.”
Needless to say, Francis was excited about being offered by Carolina.
"I mean it's UNC it speaks for itself, but I like how Coach Williams plays,” Francis said. “He plays my style fast pace and tough. The kind of coach I like."
UNC’s staff watched Francis last week in Las Vegas. Francis said Roy Williams told him they were watching and comparing him to other point guards in the class.
THI basketball recruiting analyst Rob Jones has seen Francis play in person several times.
"Francis is a physically strong lead guard that often initiates contact with the defender," said Jones. "He has good lift and is effective with his mid-range jumper. Most impressive, is his poise with the ball. He doesn't get rattled even in high pressure situations."
