North Carolina offered 2019 power forward Vernon Carey on Monday, Carey confirmed to THI.
Carey, the No. 2 overall player in the class, is 6-9, 240 pounds and attends University High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
"This kid is a big-timer," THI basketball recruiting analyst Clint Jackson said. "A huge bodied southpaw who bang, board and score in the post. And what makes him even more special is that he can flat-out shoot it from the arc. He loves to catch the ball and let it fly from the perimeter where he has good accuracy."
Carey has also been offered by UConn, Louisville, Florida, FSU, and Baylor, among many others.
"One of the best overall prospects in his class," Jackson said. "I would imagine that Carey, the son of a former NFL player, will get all of the blue-blood offers."
